Justice Lab Legal Administrative Assistant

Viktor Hermannsson is the Legal Administrative Assistant for Justice Lab.  Before joining the ACLU in January, 2023, Viktor worked as a litigation legal assistant for a local law firm.  Prior to that, he worked as an assistant director for a small-donor fundraising organization in New Orleans that focused on raising funds and awareness for non-profits, including the ACLU.

In 2022, Viktor volunteered for InReach, a tech platform matching LGBTQ+ people facing discrimination and persecution with safe, verified resources.  Viktor also volunteers for Encircle, a Utah-based nonprofit, as a facilitator for an online support group for trans adults.

In the fall of 2020, Viktor helped raise awareness for ACLU’s Justice Lab by going to local businesses in New Orleans neighborhoods, talking to business owners about the program.

Viktor graduated from the University of New Orleans in 2015 with a master’s degree in urban studies.  He wrote his master’s thesis on queer women’s construction of urban space in New Orleans and the processes through which such spaces come into being, with special attention given to the class-based and racial projects that affect contemporary queer urban spaces.

Originally from Iceland, Viktor has lived in New Orleans since 2009. He is committed to standing up for social justice, and doing his part in creating a more compassionate society.
