NEW ORLEANS – In the 22nd case filed as part of its Justice Lab campaign, the ACLU of Louisiana is suing deputies from the DeSoto Parish Sheriff's Office (DPSO) and the Louisiana State Police Department for unnecessary and excessive use of force against a Black man.

NEW ORLEANS – The ACLU of Louisiana issued the following statement regarding body camera footage of Louisiana State Trooper Jacob Brown viciously attacking an unarmed Black man in May 2019. Brown exacted excessive force on Mr. Aaron Bowman, hitting him with a flashlight 18 times in 24 seconds.
NEW ORLEANS – Louisiana state senators voted to overturn Gov. Edwards’ veto of SB 156, which bans transgender youth from participating in school sports consistent with their gender identity. During the session, a group of protesters were pulled away from the chambers by Capitol security.
NEW ORLEANS – In a letter addressed to Attorney General Merrick Garland and the US Department of Justice, the ACLU of Louisiana today called for a pattern or practice investigation into misconduct by the Louisiana State Police.
