Screening: Just Mercy

January 16, 2019 @ 6:00 pmJanuary 17, 2019 @ 5:45 pm

The ACLU of Louisiana and Innocence Project New Orleans present a screening of JUST MERCY, a powerful new film that conveys the injustice of our legal system through the true story of Bryan Stevenson’s fight to free a wrongfully convicted man from death row.

Starring Michael B. Jordan, Jamie Foxx, and Brie Larson, Just Mercy is based on Stevenson’s memoir. Stevenson is the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative and one of the country’s most acclaimed lawyers and social justice activists.

The evening will begin with a light reception and welcome remarks from Alanah Odoms Hebert, executive director of the ACLU of Louisiana, and IPNO executive director Jee Park. After the film, the audience will be invited to share their reflections and to discuss local efforts to combat racial injustice and mass incarceration in Louisiana.

Your $10 ticket will include light fare and a concession (beer, wine, soda, popcorn or candy).

Don’t miss this special event generously sponsored by Ben & Jerry’s. Seating is limited so reserve your ticket today.
