Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in the ACLU of Louisiana.
The ACLU of Louisiana's legal program focuses on what we call "impact litigation." These are cases that have the potential to create broader legal change, protecting or expanding civil liberties and civil rights for communities across Louisiana. Our work focuses on challenging government actions and policies, not disputes between private individuals, nor do we operate as a general legal services organization. Our goal is to bring cases that can transform Louisiana's legal landscape to better protect everyone's constitutional rights.
Because of this focused mission, we are unable to take on the vast majority of requests for legal assistance, even when someone has experienced a clear injustice or violation of their rights. We understand how difficult this can be, particularly when harm has occurred. We understand how difficult this can be when you have been personally impacted. The ACLU of Louisiana directs its resources toward strategic litigation while supporting partnerships with organizations that can serve individuals more directly.
If you have a question or you’d like to contact us you can reach out via email at [email protected]. Please understand that due to our small staff and high volume of requests, we cannot provide individual responses to most submissions.
