NEW ORLEANS – The ACLU and the American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana today filed a temporary restraining order in their lawsuit against Oakdale Federal Detention Center. 

Chief Justice Bernette Joshua Johnson urged district judges to take steps to avoid needless jail sentences and prevent people from being incarcerated because they cannot afford bail.

NEW ORLEANS – In a win for the city’s public defenders and civil rights groups representing them, the Louisiana Supreme Court has declined to consider the City of New Orleans’ appeal of a lower court ruling ordering officials to provide the locations of the city’s crime cameras.
